Do I need a resource consent to take water?

Reasonable animal drinking water and domestic water use don’t generally need a resource consent.

Most irrigators and larger dairy farms need a resource consent to take water, whether the water is from a stream or groundwater.

Small amounts of water use will be permitted without a consent. The draft maximum amount that is permitted will be set in the Plan Change.
