There are some national regulations that we can’t change. But we can add more stringent rules than these national regulations if required. That is where local feedback is valuable. All the draft management options are open for public comment and your feedback will help the Bay of Plenty Regional Council to update its Regional Policy Statement and the Regional Natural Resources Plan and deliver national requirements for freshwater. For example, it might help us to set out clearly what we want to achieve (vision, environmental outcomes), how long we should take to get there, and which management options (rules and other methods) to apply now.
