What is a Freshwater Management Unit?

A Freshwater Management Unit (FMU) is a proposed area where the water resources within can be managed. The aim of setting up FMUs is to improve water management by taking a holistic approach that considers the interconnectedness of a catchment, or groups of catchments, the people, and ecosystems within their boundaries.

All 13 FMUs in the Bay of Plenty are in draft; we are looking for feedback on what you think of them.
